About Our Firm
Since our firm was founded by T. Paul Tremont in 1960, we have championed the cause of those seriously injured and abused through the fault of others and, in the process, have helped change the law to better serve them.
We have handled some of the biggest and most complex cases in Connecticut relating to car accidents, motorcycle accidents, medical malpractice, childhood sexual abuse, and worker’s compensation. We have over 100 years combined experience and are able to use that experience to best serve our clients and help them achieve the best resolution possible.
For us at Tremont Sheldon P.C., our name represents not only how we are recognized, but also our core values. We believe strongly in giving everyone a voice no matter who he or she is or what he or she has been through. We also believe in being transparent with our clients and guiding them through every step in their case. Our clients have access to their attorneys and supporting team members throughout the process.
Tremont Sheldon is proud to be in Bridgeport. We have been in the same historic building across from City Hall (was Central High School long ago) and near the court houses for over 60 years. We are easily reached from all parts of Connecticut since we are near Route 95, Route 8, Route 25 and have a secure private parking lot.
Our building is dedicated to only our office, giving you privacy with several conference rooms, private workspaces, and even a kitchen. Even though our building is over 100 years old, we have modernized with the latest technology to accommodate virtual court hearings, online depositions, and Zoom meetings with our clients.
Through the years we have used our building on logos and other materials, and it is part of who we are. We could not imagine being anywhere else. Our building is home to us and we like that it feels professional, but yet feels more personal. We are grateful to have a space where clients feel comfortable and at ease.
About Our Founder T. Paul Tremont
T. Paul Tremont grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut and lived in a cold water flat (no hot water) with many family members not far from our office. He was the first in his family to attend college and later completed a 3-year law degree at Georgetown University in 2 years due to his hard work and academic prowess. He would team up with Robert Sheldon in the 1970s forming Tremont Sheldon.
Paul was known as one of the best trial attorneys in the state of Connecticut who was never afraid to go up against “the big guy” to represent the underdog as evinced by his dogged pursuit of bringing justice to childhood sexual abuse victims in the early 90s.
Paul was extremely philanthropic over his lifetime, giving back to the Bridgeport community and Fairfield University who took a chance on a kid from Bridgeport.
He was also an incredible cook and able to make anything from nothing – probably from growing up and helping his father in his luncheonette.
Paul’s legacy continues in the clients we proudly represent and fight for every day.
In 2001, Bridgeport Mayor Ganim designated May 14 as T. Paul Tremont Day to recognize his contributions to the community and the legal profession.
