Neck Injury Results in Settlement Over $950,000
Our client was seriously injured in a motor vehicle while stopped at a yield sign. The client’s car was rear-ended several times by a large garbage truck. The client was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with symptoms of neck pain and right arm pain. An MRI revealed a cervical disc protrusion at the C6-7 level, with indentation into the spinal cord. After conservative treatment (physical therapy, injections and medications) did not help, the client underwent cervical disc fusion surgery.
The client has continued to experience constant, intense pain and numbness in his neck and arms since his operation, despite undergoing orthopedic and chiropractic treatment, acupuncture and injections and taking various medications. The injuries have also adversely affected most of the client’s daily activities, including driving, cooking, gardening, and hiking, all of which he enjoyed doing and was able to do free of pain before this accident.
Attorneys Jason Tremont and Bob Sheldon felt that mediation would be an excellent way to resolve this case. After two lengthy mediation sessions, they successfully negotiated a settlement of over $950,000 for the client. This settlement is believed to be one of the highest amounts ever obtained in Connecticut for this type of neck injury.
