Leading drugmakers will help set up psychological centres for victims of child sex abuse in an effort to counter the long-term health problems suffered by victims. They are to join forces with Harvard Medical School, the Mayo Clinic and others to improve medical education and accelerate the early identification of victims. Sexual exploitation when a child can saddle a person with life-long illnesses and a range of mental problems. At least one in five girls and one in 10 boys are victims of sexual abuse before they reach the age of 18, but only one in three cases is reported, according to the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC).

U.S. Attorney David Fein, who prosecuted the case with Assistant U.S. Attorney Krishna Patel maintained that Osmun's "prior instances of his misconduct were not properly reported. Indeed, if Osmun's prior conduct had been known, he would not have been accepted as a volunteer with the Peace Corps and the abuse to these children would have been avoided." ... About a month after Jesse's arrest, Seth was arrested by police in Austin, Texas for allegedly possessing child pornography. Police there found pictures on his computer of a young girl, between seven and nine years old engaging in intercourse and oral sex with an adult male, according to an affidavit submitted by Sgt. Penn State is laboring under severe NCAA penalties. And at least four civil lawsuits have been filed against a university shamed by scandal, with more likely to come. If Sandusky felt any remorse or pity for anyone but himself, he didn't show it at his sentencing Tuesday. Instead, speaking in court for the first time since his arrest last November, the former Penn State assistant football coach delivered a disjointed and defiant monologue in which he denied committing "disgusting acts" against children and cast himself as the victim.
Swim Coach Banned for Life in Sexual Abuse Case
USA Swimming banned coach Rick Curl for life for an improper relationship with a teenage swimmer in the 1980s. Curl, who ran one of the nation's largest swim clubs near Washington, D.C., and coached 1996 and 2000 Olympic gold medalist Tom Dolan, was scheduled for a hearing Wednesday before the National Board of Review. But he informed the governing body he was waiving his right to challenge the case. Curl voluntarily gave up his membership and will be added to USA Swimming's list of banned individuals, which is published on the organization Web site. The coach was accused of starting a relationship with a 13-year-old female swimmer in the 1980s. Kelley Davis Currin said she received a $150,000 settlement from Curl not to go to law enforcement with details of the illicit four-year relationship, but decided to come forward after the sport was rocked by a sexual abuse scandal two years ago.
Former Music Director at Christ Church Greenwich Connecticut Released from Federal Prison Following Child Pornography Conviction
A former long-time music director at Christ Church Greenwich, Robert F. Tate, 70, has been released from the federal prison term he was serving following a 2008 child pornography conviction and has moved to a New Canaan apartment. At his sentencing hearing in 2008, Tate, admitted to a 40 year history of sexual abuse of minors overseas as well as viewing hundreds of sexually-explicit photos of children dating back to the 1960s. Tate was not charged criminally for those acts, but did acknowledge having sex with boys in Thailand, the Phillippines and Costa Rica. According to the state Sex Offender's Registry, Tate is living at 279 Elm St., Apartment 2, following his release from federal prison last week.

Newtown Connecticut Man Accussed of Producing Child Pornography of 4 Year Old
According to an indictment that was unsealed in federal court, a 28-year-old Newtown, Connecticut man has been charged with sexually abusing a 4-year-old girl and maintaining films of the alleged abuse. David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that a federal grand jury sitting in New Haven has returned an indictment charging Edward F. Wilson with one count of production of child pornography, one count of receipt and distribution of child pornography, and one count of possession of child pornography. The indictment was returned on Aug. 9, but ws only unsealed today during Wilson's arraignment before United States Magistrate Judge Thomas P. Smith in Hartford. The indictment alleges that, in approximately 2011 and 2012, Wilson sexually abused a 4-year-old girl, filmed and photographed the abuse, and maintained the videos and images on his home computer.
Personal Trainer Accused of Sexual Assaulting Clients in Fairfield
A Personal Trainer in Fairfield, Patrick Myers, is accused of sexually assaulting numerous clients some of which were under age. The following article was published in the Connecticut Post regarding gym managers covering up the assaults. Under Connecticut's mandated reporting law, the gym manager is responsible for reporting Patrick Myers actions to authorities immediately. Another arrest has been made in connection with the case of a personal trainer from Branford who has been charged with sexual assaulting clients in Fairfield. {He has worked as a trainer at Fitness Edge in Kings Highway Fairfield and other Fairfield Connecticut Gyms.} This time, a manager at one of the local gyms where Patrick Myers, 44, worked was charged with interfering with an officer for what police said was intentionally concealing information and misleading police during their investigation of Myers.

Internal documents from the Boy Scouts of America reveal more than 125 cases in which men suspected of molestation allegedly continued to abuse Scouts, despite a blacklist meant to protect boys from sexual predators. A Los Angeles Times review of more than 1,200 files from 1970 to 1991 found suspected abusers regularly remained in the organization after officials were first presented with sexual misconduct allegations.
