The principal and an assistant principal of Stamford High School were charged Thursday with failing to report an alleged sexual relationship between an English teacher and a male student - possibly allowing the affair to continue for another six months.
The Wilton School superintendent still facing tough questions after a paraprofessional accused of inappropriately touching a child was allowed to work after the for more than a year after the allegations. Eric Von Kohorn did not resign for Wilton public schools until June 16th of 2014 after he was arrested for possessing and sharing child pornography. Even though a family came forward with allegations that Von Kohorn touched their child back in January of 2013.
A high school English teacher was arrested Thursday morning and charged with sexual assault for allegedly maintaining an inappropriate relationship with a student, police said. Danielle Watkins, 32, of Norwalk, turned herself in to police Thursday morning, police said. She was charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault, two counts of sale of marijuana and one count of risk of injury to a minor. According to police, Watkins maintained a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student from September 2013 until June 2014. The victim allegedly told police that the two had numerous sexual encounters in her vehicle during school hours. He said the car was parked off of school grounds. Watkins also allegedly sent pictures of herself, naked, to the student's phone, police said. The victim said that at one point he attempted to break off the relationship, but Watkins assaulted him and accused him of being with someone else, police said.
A Ledyard High School journalism teacher was arrested Monday after investigators determined he was having a sexual relationship with a female student, police said. William Friskey, 36, of Pattagansett Court, East Lyme, was arrested on a warrant charging him with two counts of second-degree sexual assault, police said. He posted $75,000 bail and was scheduled to be arraigned at Superior Court in New London July 14.
A Danbury man who has taught at a private Catholic girls' school in Greenwich for the past 17 years has been charged with sexual assaulting a minor, police said. Michael Maida, 44, surrendered to police on Tuesday. He is charged with second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor, according to police. The charges stem from an investigation into alleged contact between Maida and a student who was under the age of 16 at the time, police said. Maida teaches at Convent of the Sacred Heart day school in Greenwich. According to a statement from the school, the alleged incident took place in the fall of 2009 and the alleged victim is no longer a student.
A 72-year-old substitute teacher at Westhill High School in Stamford Connecticut was arrested Wednesday for allegedly masturbating in a school hallway, according to police. Michael Luecke was charged with public indecency, breach of peace and risk of injury to a minor. According to police, Luecke was discovered about 7:33 a.m. by a school paraprofessional, who walked by an out cove in the hallway and saw a man on the ground. Thinking the man was hurt, the woman approached him and saw that the man's hand was in his pants "manipulating his penis," police said.
More victims might come forward after a veteran Trumbull police officer was charged Tuesday with sexually assaulting a teenage girl he befriended at a statewide academy for high school students interested in becoming police officers. William Ruscoe, 45, a drill instructor at the Cadet Police Academy at the University of Hartford, flirted with a number of teenage girls at the weeklong camp held every year, State Police investigators said. One of the girls turned him in after she became jealous of his attentions to another girl, police said. State police said Ruscoe was charged with sexually assaulting one of the girls in his Trumbull home, binding her with his police handcuffs after pulling out his handgun.
WATERBURY -- A teacher at Crosby High School in Waterbury has been charged with having a sexual relationship with a male student at the school. Meghan Eagan, 25, of 1568 Meriden Road, was charged with four counts of second-degree sexual assault. She posted $100,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 25. The sexual contact occurred four times in December and January at Eagan's home, police said. Police said school administrators have placed Eagan on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation. From Hartford Courant
Police have charged an English teacher at Fairfield Ludlowe High School with sexual assault after they say he engaged in a long-running relationship with a student. Glenn Mishuck, 49, of Ellsworth Street in Bridgeport, is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at Superior Court in Bridgeport. He was charged with 17 counts of second-degree sexual assault. Mischuck is no longer a teacher at the school. School officials said he resigned his position Oct. 7. He was placed on paid administrative leave Sept. 18, when school officials learned of the allegations against him, a school spokeswoman said. Mishuck, who was known to students as "Mish," engaged in a sexual relationship with a student younger than 18 on at least 17 occasions, police said. A woman who worked as a special education tutor in the Newington school system has been charged with eight counts of second-degree sexual assault after engaging in a sexual relationship with a 20-year-old student. Newington school officials notified police of the allegations on June 13 and on Monday police announced they'd arrested Amy Belliveau, 43, of New Britain. Police said she turned herself in Thursday after learning a warrant had been issued for her arrest. It is against state law for a school employee to have sexual contact with a student, regardless of age of the student.
