Two children injured in hit-and-run accident, one driver arrested

Any type of car accident can be concerning for all parties involved, but a hit-and-run accident introduces a whole other element to the situation. As required by law, all parties are obligated to remain at the scene when an accident occurs, so that law enforcement officials can document the appropriate information about the car accident and who was potentially at fault. In a hit-and-run, the situation becomes more complex.

Take, for example, a recent crash in Connecticut, in which a 32-year-old man caused an accident on June 16. According to the reports, the collision occurred during the evening hours, when the man swerved his vehicle in traffic and struck another vehicle, which was being driven by a mother who had her two children with her.

The two children reportedly suffered serious injuries in the collision. The 32-year-old man fled the scene on foot. Fortunately, the man was quickly apprehended by the Connecticut State Police. He is now facing several criminal charges, including operating under the influence and reckless driving. There were no further details about the two children who were injured, or if they are expected to survive their injuries.

Hit-and-run accidents can seem overwhelming. When a hit-and-run driver flees the scene of the accident, it may seem likely that they will never be caught. However, this isn't true. As this recent incident shows, it is possible to apprehend hit-and-run drivers. When this happens, it may be possible for victims of the hit-and-run crash to consider the options they have to recover financial compensation from the hit-and-run driver through a personal injury lawsuit.
