Fatal car accidents are one of the leading causes of death in America. Unfortunately, here in Connecticut we have our fair share of accidents, including those that lead to the death of a person involved. According to a recent report, that is exactly what happened in a collision that occurred on February 27.
The reports indicate that the collision occurred in nearby Yantic. Apparently, a 51-year-old man was in the same lane behind another vehicle when he attempted to pass the vehicle in front of him. It is unclear from reports exactly how the collision between the two vehicles occurred, but it did occur when the 51-year-old man attempted to make the pass. The resultant collision sent both vehicles out of control. The 51-year-old man’s vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree on the side of the road. He died as a result of his injuries.
The other driver involved in the collision was reportedly uninjured. However, as with many car accident injuries, the full scale of the impact of the collision on this other driver may not have been immediately apparently. In some cases, car accident victims may seem like they are fine, but then later on they experience physical symptoms of an injury. This is common with whiplash injuries, for example.
An accident investigation is underway to determine how this recent car crash occurred. The initial reports did not indicate that law enforcement authorities were assigning blame on one party or the other. Unfortunately, fatal car accidents like this are too common.
