The devastating impact of impaired and distracted driving

On Behalf of | Dec 28, 2017 | Firm News, Personal Injury |

Two of the most dangerous things to be on the lookout for on the roads are drunk drivers and distracted drivers. Unfortunately, this is the time of year when both types of drivers are likely to be more prevalent on the roadways in Connecticut.

The impact of impaired and distracted driving cannot be overstated. According to a recent article, every single day in America 28 people die in drunk driving accidents, statistically speaking. And those statistics don’t come from just any random source: the data comes from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Distracted driving is becoming just as much of a concern for drivers and passengers as drunk driving. The recent article noted that a whopping 660,000 drivers per day use their cellphones or other electronic device while driving an automobile. Even just a couple of seconds of distraction can lead to a devastating car accident.

Although there are laws on the books in Connecticut and every other state regarding drunk driving, and many laws related to distracted driving as well, there are still many drivers who engage in this type of reckless and dangerous behavior. The results can be serious car accidents leading to significant injuries, and even death. Drivers in Connecticut should be on the lookout for these reckless drivers. But, if anyone has already been the victim of this type of crash, there may be legal options. The injured victims may be able to pursue a personal injury lawsuit in Connecticut courts to seek financial compensation.
