Pursuing compensation after a pedestrian accident

Of all the different types of car collisions that can occur in Connecticut, pedestrian accidents are probably the ones with the potential for the most damage and injuries to be caused to the individuals involved. A car accident involving a pedestrian will typically see the pedestrian suffer the brunt of the damage, with the potential for serious injuries to occur. The driver and passengers in the vehicle rarely suffer injuries in these types of collisions.

Unfortunately, many times the pedestrians who are involved in these types of collisions will be hospitalized, and they may think that their options for pursuing compensation from the driver are limited. That typically isn't true. These injured pedestrians have the same rights to pursue financial compensation from the negligent driver as they would if they themselves had been in a vehicle and suffered injuries due to the negligent driver's conduct.

But, the unfortunate reality is that these injured victims are oftentimes consumed with their health needs and recovery in the immediate aftermath of a pedestrian accident. That is obviously very important, but it can be just as important to remember that, in many personal injury cases, time is of the essence. Evidence may disappear if injured victims wait too long to begin taking the necessary steps in preparation for litigation. It may become impossible to secure photographs of the accident scene, the vehicle involved or to get the contact information from eyewitnesses.

At our law firm, we understand the difficult times that lay ahead of Connecticut residents who have been injured in a pedestrian accident. We do our best to make sure these victims understand their legal options. For more information, please visit the pedestrian accident overview section of our law firm's website.
