Alleged drunk driver charged after fatal motorcycle crash

Connecticut motorcyclists are especially vulnerable when they are in an auto accident as they have less protection than those in vehicles. What makes these accidents worse is if they are due to a drunk driver. When there is a car crash with a motorcycle, it is vital that the people involved or the family left behind have a full investigation for a potential legal filing.

Recently, an accident between a car and a motorcycle left a female dead and the male hospitalized. The accident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. When emergency crews arrived, the driver and the car had fled. A witness pointed police in the direction of where the car went, and they found it abandoned.

Officers found the apparent driver not far away. He had vomit on his shirt. When the car was searched, an 18-pack of beer was found. The driver showed signs of intoxication. He allegedly lied to law enforcement as to who he was and asserted that he had been in the vehicle, but was not operating it. He repeatedly changed his story, but the man was arrested on a slew of charges, including DUI, second-degree manslaughter, failing to have the proper insurance, driving without a license and more.

Given the circumstances of this drunk driving accident, compensation through a legal filing is likely. There are many aspects of this case that must be assessed, such as the medical expenses, pain and suffering, loss of companionship and more. But, for help in moving forward with a legal case, the families of the motorcyclists should contact a qualified legal professional immediately.
