Significant attention has been paid to Connecticut drivers who operate their vehicles while distracted and the accidents they cause. However, a long problematic issue that can cause many accidents is a drunk driver. These types of accidents are so common that it is easy to forget how dangerous they are and the damage they can do. When there is a car crash, an investigation is necessary to see how and why it happened. The injuries and possible fatalities that come about after a drunk driving accident can cause financial and personal problems to a victim and a lawsuit is a method to be compensated.

A five-car crash severely injured one woman and sent another person to the hospital. The 44-year-old driver of the vehicle that is believed to have caused the accident was placed under arrest for drunk driving. Law enforcement had seen the vehicle moving recklessly and it was later discovered that this vehicle caused the accident and one previously. After the five-vehicle accident, the driver and a passenger fled on foot. Police caught the driver and his 40-year-old passenger.

A 53-year-old woman suffered a fractured spine as well as other injuries. The other injured person was released from the hospital. The driver failed field sobriety tests. The law enforcement investigation found that man and his passenger had been drinking for the entire day. They had hit a different vehicle and fled in the car. Then they hit the most seriously injured victim in the back as she was sitting at a red light. Her car went into traffic heading in the opposite direction where it was hit. The drunk driver rear-ended two more vehicles. The driver’s blood-alcohol content was found to be three times the legal limit. He faces multiple charges.

With a car collision in these circumstances and the woman having a fractured spine, it is vital that her family take the immediate steps to protect her by speaking to a legal professional about a case. The driver was arrested for a variety of charges and is alleged to have been extremely drunk. While this might seem to be a clear case in the victim’s favor, her family must make certain that all the necessary steps are taken with help from a qualified attorney.
