Alleged distracted driver hits woman and kids in Bridgeport

Connecticut law enforcement has recently increased its efforts to reduce the number of drivers who are operating their vehicles while distracted. Despite those attempts, there will still be drivers who do not pay attention to the road. This can cause a car accident with injuries and fatalities. A key to determining when there was a distracted driver is the law enforcement investigation. Those who have been injured or lost a loved one in this type of crash need to make certain that they have legal assistance.

A woman and two boys were hurt when a car that is believed to have been driven by a distracted driver crashed into them. The accident happened at about 1:30 p.m. All three victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.

One of the boys almost lost both legs, but surgeons saved them after an operation that took several hours. The driver of the vehicle, a 37-year-old man, faces multiple charges, including not having insurance, reckless driving and failing to stop. When the police investigated, they found no skid marks indicating an attempt to stop before crashing, leading them to believe that the driver was distracted.

A driver can be distracted in many ways. A smartphone is one of the newest ones, but there are others, including using the radio, eating, talking to passengers and more. Smartphone use with texting, surfing the internet, making calls and more is exacerbating the problem.

When there is an auto accident, one of the first reasons that is considered is that there was a driver who was distracted. The accident aftermath can lead to long-term problems, such as surgery, physical therapy, the need to reconfigure a home and to provide long-term care. This is expensive and can cause emotional turmoil. If there is a fatality, it is much worse.

In this accident, three people were injured when a car hit them. It is believed that the driver of the car was distracted. Although this accident remains under investigation, the people who were hurt and their families must be aware of how to move forward with a legal filing. Speaking to a lawyer who is experienced in litigation for a car crash is vital.
