Do you drive through Bridgeport's most dangerous intersection?

At the Connecticut Department of Transportation's traffic safety summit on December 3, researchers from the University of Connecticut revealed that the most dangerous intersection in Bridgeport is at East Washington Avenue and Housatonic Avenue. Because it is an intersection, the danger is not limited to vehicle-on-vehicle accidents. Pedestrians and cyclists are also at risk for serious or fatal injuries from negligent drivers.

The study also showed that in 2015, there have been 3,550 vehicle accidents in Bridgeport alone. Overall, however, Connecticut is doing a good job of safe driving. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that the state has reduced the number of vehicle accident deaths by nearly half since 2010.

That's good news for drivers in Connecticut. Still, car accidents occur every day, and an accident doesn't have to be fatal to be devastating. Car accident victims can suffer catastrophic injuries that change their lives. Spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, amputations and burns can leave accident victims with permanent disability or disfigurement.

These types of injuries can also affect the victim's family. The cost of immediate and long-term medical care can be enormous. The family may suffer the loss of income and benefits if the victim was a wage earner or if a wage earner has to stop working to care for the injured family member. In addition, the emotional toll on everyone involved can last for years.

If you or a family member has been injured in any type of vehicle accident, it's important to learn about your right to seek compensation for your medical, financial and emotional losses. Our experienced personal injury attorneys can assess your case and explain your options.
