The sudden loss of a human life in an accident is difficult for many to fathom. It is even more difficult to understand when the accident involves the loss of an innocent child. Our Connecticut residents may be saddened to learn that according to East Hartford Police, an 8-year-old was killed when he was struck by at least one car which was involved in a two-car accident.
According to reports, the car accident is still under investigation and accident reconstruction experts are still trying to piece together what happened. Two vehicles were involved in a crash. One of the vehicles struck the 8-year-old boy and he was transported to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Reports indicate that both drivers are already facing motor vehicle violation charges and could potentially face more charges once the investigation is complete; however, the nature of the additional charges was not made public since the accident is still under investigation. It has not been determined whether or not the cars were speeding when the accident occurred, but police have said that the location of the accident is a problem area.
When serious injuries or death result from a car accident, the family of the victim may not know what to do. Emotions and grief may overcome those directly impacted by an accident. For many grieving families, making sense of it all may be difficult. For some families, holding a negligent driver responsible may be important and may give one a sense of justice. In some cases, speaking to a personal injury attorney and having the specific facts of their case examined may be cathartic.
