Staples High School teacher accused of sex with student

Another teacher at Staples High School in Westport, CT has been arrested for inappropriate conduct with a minor student. Previously, in 2008, Tremont Sheldon P.C. filed suit against the Westport Board of Education and Superintendent Elliot Landon for the sexual assault of a student by her Staples High School English Teacher. That matter was settled shortly after Superior Court Judge Barbara Bellis ruled that the Town of Westport couldn’t use the shield of government immunity instead concluding that the young victim presented evidence showing sufficient facts that the sex abuse by her teacher was a foreseeable risk created by school officials’ negligent conduct.
