Multi-car accidents claim life of toddler, injure others

Losing a loved one in a car accident, particularly a young child, is a devastating and unfathomable occurrence. No family expects it to happen. Sadly, however, car accidents occur routinely, not only seriously injuring many, but also claiming lives.

Connecticut residents who often travel on I-95 will be shocked to learn that recently, a four-car crash resulted in the death of a two-year-old child and seriously injured others. According to the Connecticut State Police, there were two separate accidents on I-95 and the second accident is the one that resulted in the death of the toddler.

The first accident occurred around seven in the evening, when a tractor-trailer collided into four cars, which then crashed into other vehicles. At least seven individuals in the first accident were reportedly taken to the hospital. The second accident occurred around 9:30 in the evening when a truck driven by a 58-year-old man slammed into three other cars, which had apparently slowed down or stopped. The vehicle that was directly struck by the truck contained the child, who suffered fatal injuries in the collision and was declared dead at the scene of the accident. The driver and passenger in the vehicle sustained head, neck and back injuries. Furthermore, a nine-year-old child also in the same vehicle that the 58-year-old driver hit suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. The accident is still under investigation.

It is incomprehensible for anyone to imagine what the family of those injured and killed is experiencing. All drivers on the road have an ongoing duty to obey traffic laws and be attentive. When a driver fails to do so, car accidents can result, causing serious injuries and even death. Though every case is different with a unique set of circumstances, those individuals involved in a car accident and who have suffered harm or the loss of a loved one may want to consider contacting a personal injury attorney for a compassionate consultation about one's legal options.
