Many Connecticut residents drive a car to get from point A to point B, for work, school and more. Most realize that freeways, highways and roads are shared by many different types of vehicles on a daily basis. When one gets behind the wheel of his or her vehicle, the prospect of being involved in a car accident likely does not occur to the driver or passenger. However, the reality is that every 10 seconds someone in the U.S. is involved in a car accident.
Connecticut residents may have heard that a multi-vehicle accident which involved two school buses and five cars resulted in 28 individuals being taken to a hospital for evaluation and at least one driver being airlifted to Hartford Hospital. Out of the 28 involved in the accident, 22 were reported to be children. According to authorities, the multi-vehicle car accident occurred in the late afternoon shortly before 4 p.m.
The accident investigation is ongoing, but according to one eyewitness, a pick-up truck was allegedly driving at a high rate of speed when it collided with a Jeep. The rear-end collision pushed the Jeep into a Kindercare bus, which then collided into a public school bus. In the mayhem, a Volkswagen was also struck. According to the authorities investigating the accident, the road had to be closed to clear out the debris. None of the 22 children involved suffered any serious injuries and were released from the hospital.
Clearly, car accidents can happen without warning and can involve multiple people and vehicles. Additionally, the nature and severity of an accident can vary. Those involved in a car accident may not know what to do or how to respond. Some may suffer serious injuries or may even die.
