The principal and an assistant principal of Stamford High School were charged Thursday with failing to report an alleged sexual relationship between an English teacher and a male student - possibly allowing the affair to continue for another six months.

New York Dance Instructor Sexually Assaulted Connecticut Dance Student

A New York dance instructor who has worked with nationally known artists was arrested Tuesday after police said he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old student. Police said Johnny Sadowski also texted the girl photos of his private parts. Sadowski, 26, of Euclid Avenue, Fairfield, was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a minor and using a computer to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity.

 A 68-year-old piano teacher was charged with sexual assault on Tuesday for allegedly touching students inappropriately during lessons, police said.

West Haven Connecticut School Bus Driver Repeatedly Sexually Assaulted Student On Bus, Police Say

 A school bus driver who is charged with sexually assaulting a student on a school bus told the student not to say anything or "I'll go to jail," police said Tuesday. Alan Demand, 51, of Fowler Street in New Haven, assaulted the student "numerous times" and carried on an illegal sexual relationship until the student reported the assaults to a school resource officer, they said. The student was between the ages of 13 and 15 at the time, Sgt. David Tammaro said. Demand was charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault, one count of illegal sexual contact and one count of second-degree unlawful restraint. He was in custody on $50,000 bail Tuesday morning, police said, and was scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Milford for an arraignment later in the day. According to police, Demand assaulted the student between October and December. He also talked to the student several times on a cell phone and at one point texted a picture -- which police described as "sexual" -- along with instructions: "Please don't tell your mom anything else cause I'll go to Jail." Police didn't say whether the student is a boy or a girl. Detectives from the department's Special Victims Unit made the arrest, police said. Demand worked for Winkle Bus Company. Hugh Keefe, who represents the company, said it suspended Demand as soon as it learned of the allegations. He has not been fired; he must be presumed innocent until proven guilty, Keefe said. The bus company has "an excellent safety record and never had a driver charged with anything like this in the past," Keefe said. Demand has no recent arrests or convictions on his record, according to judicial branch records. According to his online resume, he also has driven school buses in Bridgeport and North Haven and has been a shuttle driver in New Haven. He has driven elderly passengers as well as students, the resume says. He has been known to maintain order during trips "in order to ensure safety measures," it says. Greenwich Connecticut Catholic School Teacher Charged With Sexual Assault of Student

A Danbury man who has taught at a private Catholic girls' school in Greenwich for the past 17 years has been charged with sexual assaulting a minor, police said. Michael Maida, 44, surrendered to police on Tuesday. He is charged with second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor, according to police. The charges stem from an investigation into alleged contact between Maida and a student who was under the age of 16 at the time, police said. Maida teaches at Convent of the Sacred Heart day school in Greenwich. According to a statement from the school, the alleged incident took place in the fall of 2009 and the alleged victim is no longer a student.

Trumbull Connecticut Police Officer Charged with Sexually Assaulting Teenage Girl

More victims might come forward after a veteran Trumbull police officer was charged Tuesday with sexually assaulting a teenage girl he befriended at a statewide academy for high school students interested in becoming police officers. William Ruscoe, 45, a drill instructor at the Cadet Police Academy at the University of Hartford, flirted with a number of teenage girls at the weeklong camp held every year,State Police investigators said. One of the girls turned him in after she became jealous of his attentions to another girl, police said. State police said Ruscoe was charged with sexually assaulting one of the girls in his Trumbull home, binding her with his police handcuffs after pulling out his handgun.

English teacher at Fairfield Ludlowe High School Charged with Sexual Assault in Relationship with Student

Police have charged an English teacher at Fairfield Ludlowe High School with sexual assault after they say he engaged in a long-running relationship with a student. Glenn Mishuck, 49, of Ellsworth Street in Bridgeport, is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at Superior Court in Bridgeport. He was charged with 17 counts of second-degree sexual assault. Mischuck is no longer a teacher at the school. School officials said he resigned his position Oct. 7. He was placed on paid administrative leave Sept. 18, when school officials learned of the allegations against him, a school spokeswoman said. Mishuck, who was known to students as "Mish," engaged in a sexual relationship with a student younger than 18 on at least 17 occasions, police said. Text messages between the student and Mishuck corroborated the incidents, police said.   David Owens, Hartford Courant

New Haven Connecticut Teacher Charged with Sexually Assaulting Students at MicroSociety Magnet School

A special education teacher in the New Haven, Connecticut public schools has been charged with sexually assaulting three underage students, according to police. Robert Schmitt, of Hamden, turned himself in to police on Wednesday, police spokesman David Hartman said in a press release Thursday afternoon. Schmitt, 48, is accused of assaulting three students during the 2011-2012 school year at the MicroSociety Magnet School. Each of the alleged assaults took place when the child was under the age of 13, Hartman said. The police investigation of Schmitt began in April, when a school social worker heard an allegation from a student -- a 12-year-old girl -- and reported it, Hartman said. A second victim, a 14-year-old girl, came forward in May, and two days later detectives spoke with the third victim, a 12-year-old boy.

Former Brookfield Connecticut Cheerleading Coach Sentenced in Sex Scandal

A former Brookfield cheerleading coach escaped prison time Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to exchanging nude photographs with a 15-year-old Monroe girl he had been coaching. Standing before Superior Court Judge Richard Arnold, 31-year-old Manuel Batson apologized for his actions, but avoided looking at the girl and her mother seated a few feet from him in the courtroom. Batson, of Church Street in Ansonia, admitted sending nude photos of himself to the girl, but claimed he thought it was all right because she had told him she was already smoking and drinking. He pleaded guilty to risk of injury to a minor and was sentenced by Arnold to a three-year suspended term, followed by five years probation. The judge also ordered Batson to register as a sex offender and never again be employed where he would have unsupervised contact with children and teenagers.

Fairfield man, ex-Staples swim coach, charged with sexually assaulting girls

The former boys swim coach at Staples High School in Westport was arrested Monday after police said he confessed to sexually assaulting two young girls for more than three years. Jeffrey Schare of Fairfield, who had been coach of the Wreckers boys swim and dive team for seven years, faces multiple sex charges. Students and staff at Staples High School, where Schare also taught math, were told in late November that he was leaving the school, but no reason was given reason other than "personal reasons." Schare, 43, began "grooming" the two girls when they were much younger, "promising favors such as food and sleep-overs as rewards for his deviant behavior," according to the arrest warrant affidavit. He began touching the girls inappropriately, and the offenses progressed from there: "A behavior he readily admitted to his wife, was a lust for younger girls, an urge that he could no longer control," the affidavit sates.
