Jury Returns a Verdict in Excess of $100,000 Where Insurance Company Offered Only $20,000

A Bridgeport jury returned a verdict in excess of $100,000 for a man who suffered injuries to his neck and back when his car was rear-ended on the highway during rush-hour traffic. The insurance company claimed that all of the plaintiff's problems were pre-existing because he had been treated on and off for neck and back problems for at least 15 years before the crash. However, the plaintiff, his treating doctor, and his family members all testified that the plaintiff's neck and back problems got a lot worse after the crash. The insurance company was only willing to pay $20,000 but the jury felt much differently and awarded the plaintiff $115,000.
