Consumer Alert - Champion Generators Sold at Costco Recalled

November 5, 2012

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, people throughout the East and Northeast have been using generators for electricity. Please be aware that Champion Power Equipment is recalling about 8,600 generators sold exclusively at Costco Wholesale stores nationwide from December 2011 through July 2012 for about $699.

There have been 11 reports of fuel leaking from the generators, including eight reports of the generators catching fire and two reports of property damage, according to the recall notice from the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

If you have one of these generators, stop using it immediately and contact Champion Power Equipment for a free repair kit to be installed by an authorized dealer, or return it to Costco for a full refund.
